What is the recommended way of backing up and restoring a NSMS v4.x message store?

We're running on Windows NT and currently using Backup Exec. We restore individual folders using mboxutil -c user/joe/foldername, putting the files there, and then a reconstruct on the user. We've been advised by Netscape tech support to limit our touches of the message store as we have seen store errors in the IMAPD log. And this really only works for a single folder. When a user wipes out a folder with 20 subfolders - well this gets messy.

If someone knows the official netscape recommended way I'd appreciate knowing what it is. I've asked them directly and never got a answer (although the other questions in that same message were answered)

For NMS you have arrived at the best solution. True, it's about as discriminating as a land mine but it works.

With iMS howver there is a utility provided called imbackup and imsrestore which can do what you're looking for, backup and restore an entire users store or the entire store it's self.

Not this is pure speculation and I've never tried but, since the store in iMS is the same as the one in NMS the ustility might work on NMS as well. You might want to try it in a dev environment.

Or, move to iMS in your production environment and take advantage of this feature plus many others.
