The best way and iPlanet's suggestion is to use a single directory server for all the app servers participating in clusters. Next, the web servers, where the web connector is installed can communicate with any of the app server and this plugin can communicate to each of the app servers accordingly.

However if you need to use more than one directory server, then there are two things to remember.

1. Both the directory server must have a replication facility, which means, the directory server must follow a supplier initiated or consumer inititated replication.

2. When following a custom installation, there is an input require before the product key is entered, which is a value of LDAP_nasconfig, for which all values entered for the app servers must be the same.
