Directory Server setup location?

Hi,

I want to make cluster with 3 ias servers, and use

"Round Robin" or "Server Response Time" for LB.

Currently I installed directory server for each ias server

and made cluster. But I can not figure out that It is find

configuration, my customer want to use another server

for directory server separately.

Could you recommend me good configurations?

Hi,

Can you please explain more about your current scenario of cluster.

In general for setting up a cluster you can have either a single LDAP/Directory

Server which is used by all iAS instances, or you can have separate

LDAP/Directory Servers for each iAS instance.

The first case is the Ideal one and will give not give you any problems, but

there are some issues with the second case.

Case-2:

- First of all you have to setup the cluster by modifying the iAS registry.

- While deploying any distributed application, even if you deploy it on all the

iAS instances from the same Deployment tool, the application will not work in

distributed environment, as for any distributed application it stores all the

registered iAS instances in the LDAP under a key "GDS", so if you are using

different LDAPs, each application will have only that particular iAS instance

registered, which used that LDAP, and the webconnector will never know about the

other iAS instances on which the application is deployed.

- So every time you have to register all the iAS instances using Admin tool for

each component of any distributed application.

Please let me know about the exact requirements of your customer so that I can

help you more.

Feel free to mail me for any queries/questions you have.
