iAS 6.0 SP3/Win2K uses iDS 4.x that is incompatible with Win2K

Hi,

iPlanet Directory Server 5.0 is the version that supports Win2K

It looks like the latest test drive iAS 6.0 SP3 is integrated with iDS 4.x

that is incompatible with Win2K. When I installed iDS 5.0, and then

installed iAS, it aborts saying that the existing directory server has to be

uninstalled. So there is no way to use the right version of the iDS for my

OS which is Win2K Pro (not server).

Does anyone have any pointers for me on how to proceed? I was able to run 1

demo app.

Thank you.

Ciao!

Hi,

Are you using testdrive? It wont allow you to choose custom installation. It

allows user to do only express installation. So You just uninstall iDS and

install iAS. iDS4.13 is bundled with iAS. You can do custom instalation in

solaris by running basesetup.sh script. Even you can choose your own directory

server by typical installation too. But those options are not there with NT. So

you can use iAS, by uninstalling iAS uninstall iDS then install iAS. iDS

bundledw ith iAS works fine with win2k,

thanks

Hi

You are right iAS SP3 is bundled with iDS 4.x and iDS 5.x has to be

seperately installed before iAS is installed. Please try to do an custom

installation of iAS which could really help. The problem is all about the

compatibilty with Win2K, actually the problem is iAS 6.0 SP3 supports with Win2K

but iDS 4.x is not supported. If you have additional resources you can very well

go ahead and install iDS in a seperate system with compatible O/S and iAS in

Win2K system. Hope you understand. Please let me know if this helps.
