Installing IAS 6.0 SP3 w/DHCP, Loopback

Hello,

I have tried to install IAS 6.0 SP3 on Win2K home PC after installing the

Web Server. The Web Server has installed successfully, but the IAS behaves

like it installs, but then I can't find it on my system anywhere. I have

done this many times. I looked in the newsgroup and the install

documentation, and realize that my network connection and DNS info have to

be correct.

There are 2 approaches that I found to resolve this - 1 in a message from

this newsgroup, and the other from the install notes.

1. Set the existing IP address to be fixed, install the App server, then

modify IP address in the registry.

--> I tried this, but the IAS wouldn't install. I made the IP address

fixed, set the subnet mask to what DHCP had set previuosly. I also set the

DNS servers, and explicitly named the DNS suffix based on the existing

setting. DHCP was obviously disabled. Later, I did a ipconfig/all and

determined the DNS as a valid suffix ( the same as issued by my cable

internet service) and the Ip address was the same.

2. Install the Loopback Adaptor, and then install IAS...

--> I have alot of questions about this. I installed the adaptor and set

the IP address to 10.0.0.1. I don't know what to do to continue the

installation process. The install docs say that this approach is to be used

when there is no network connection, or if DHCP is being used. I am using

DHCP, but it also says that there can be only 1 IP address present. When I

do ipconfig/all, I see the 2 IP addresses. I don't know how to make the

loopback connection the one to use for the IAS install. A more detailed

description of this setup is needed, because I am completely baffled.

I hope someone can help me here.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi,

Since you are using iAS on Win2K at home, I assume that you are not be

having a network henceforth U must be using Loop Back Adapter. Please follow the

following steps & let me know if it helps.

- Install a loop back adapter & ensure the PC has a static IP address. Disable

the DHCP since it assigns a dynamic IP address.

- Then install a iAS SPx compatible web server & ensure the installation is

complete & successful.

- Now install iAS and I'm sure you will succeed.

NB iAS requires a static IP Address to work with, since DHCP assigns dynamic ip

address, iAS will not work properly.
