iAS6 test problems, deployment and directory integration.

A few of us here have been testing iAS6, with Forte4J.

Now, when we try deploying from Forte using Sun's deploy tool to their

own J2EE server, it works like a charm.

Now when it comes to iAS6...

We sftp the war over to the iAS6 server, run the deploy tool.

When we look for the app, it is not under the server root we requested.

I was wondering if this was because iAS6 test-drive is using a different

directory server than the webserver.

Also, iAS6 has been failing for no obvious reason with the following

symptoms:

(default "fortune" app)

GX Error (GX2GX)

socket result code missing!!!

In the Kiva Application Server log:

bash-2.03# tail kas.log

kas> stopped engine ''2'' (CCS0)

kas> error: SendBufferRequest returned unexpected status 0x800e001c

kas> stopped engine ''3'' (CCS0)

kas> iPlanet Application Server stopped (CCS0)

[11/Jul/2001 14:39:04:6] error: CONN-OS: Connection refused

[11/Jul/2001 14:39:04:6] error: CONN-003: socket receive error

(RecvBuffer 1) (conn 0x1deb08, sock 16, host 0x40f11f04, port 0)

kas> detected crash of engine ''3'' (CCS0)

kas> started and connected to engine ''3'' (CCS0)

[11/Jul/2001 14:40:14:3] error: CONN-003: socket receive error

(RecvBuffer 1) (conn 0x1b80d8, sock 10, host 0x40f11f04, port 10822)

Terminated

It also disturbs me the last entry in the log is from the 11th, despite

the fact that kas is running, and has been restarted since then.

Anyway, the upshot is I'm tempted to wipe the iAS6 testdrive, and try

again, but was hoping for a version that would give me more options in

the installation such as assigning ports and passwords, using existing

directory services, etc.

Anyone have a link to where I could locate such a version? Evaluation

copy is fine.

Hi Kyber,

iAS 6.0 uses the directory server bundled with itself. Would you make

sure that port 9010,10817,10818,10819,10820,10821 and 10822 are free and

used by iAS. Test drive uses only easy setup, which wont allow you to

choose the ports. Just make sure iAS(perticularly KJS) is running before

testing for fortune. You will get GX error when kjs is not running.

Start KJS before running fortune. Would you send the KJS logs, as GX

error shows that kjs is not running.

regd.
