Some guidelines for Win2K installation

When Installing on a clean machine these are the guide lines you may have to

follow to install for Win2k

1. Make sure your file system is NTFS

2. Do not use DHCP, instead use Static IP And also specify DNS entry for

the TCP/IP

3. Define Primary DNS suffix ( Control Panel -> System -> Network

Identification -> Properties -> More)

Incase If your system has previous versions them do clean ups as follows

run regedit -

1. goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software and delete iPlanet folder

2. goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services and

delete the entries for : adminXXX-serv,iAS60,slapd4.1,slapd-servername.

run regedt32 -

1. goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Enum/Root

and changed the permission for key LEGACY_SLAPD-xxx from

security, and delete it, check in other controlSet also,

including currentControlSet.

After that delete the iplanet home directory, and clean up any PATH

settings created by previous installation

Most of these notes I got from this news group, If any one has more, or any

changes feel free to update this list.

Also I suggest iplanet tech groups to include this lines into readme file,

so we don't need to search on net hours

to find out the exact problem

thnx/Rgds

This is actually a answer not a question regarding the issues related to iAS installation/uninstallation on Windows-2000 platform. All the entries are correct perfectly.

Just one addition:

To make sure that "Primary DNS Suffix" is added to the windows registry just run regedit and click on the :My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SYSTEM\ControlSet001\ Services\Tcpip\Parameters key, you will see the Domain key value set to your domainname, otherwise enter the domain name into this key value, and than reboot the m/c, and than reinstall the iAS.
