pages not accessible after installation
I was wondering what steps need to be taken to view certain pages after the installation of Java? There are certain sites that I go to and the pictures will not come up on my system, however I have been able to view them on other computers.I have gone into Tools, Internet Options, Security and changed the scripting sections to enable, still doesn't work. Could someone please post some helpful information as to what the problem might be! Thanks!
I am not sure, I downloaded the JavaSE 1.4.2 to my computer with the understanding that it would take the place of Microsoft and allow me to look at everything I had in the past. As far as java or java-script could you explain more as to what the difference might be between the two? Thanks
If you are referring to Java applets, there are applets on the web that were written using MS's extensions to Java that cannot be viewed using anything other than MS's Java virtual machine (jvm). To verify that Sun's jvm is installed and working correctly, go to this page: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.jsp
It's a Sun webpage and will test and let you know if Sun's jvm is working. If there are problems, click on the tab "Help".
Also, some applets are out-of-date, or need correction, etc.
It is possible to keep both jvm's in the computer and activate the one that is needed at the moment.
