problems to instaling j2re 1.4.2_04
when i click the file j2re-1_4_2_04-windows-i586-p.exe the next message show:
error reading setup initialization file, i am migrating my swing application to 1.4.1_02 but te repaint is very slow, i hear in this forum that the 1.4.2 repaint better but i cant instaling, what can i do?, the 1.5 instalation is ok but i have to migrate to 1.4.

I had the same problem and finally a friend let me a copy, i tried to download the file 15 times and not execute, the error mensage ..., this friend download the file in march. If you cant execute this , i live in madrid and if you want i will let you the cd.
I had the same problem too.But I did set up it. If you set up anyother program on your PC,A message window from your Win OS shows there is a bad setup in your PC,do you want to give up? Then you should choose "give up",and try to download jre1.4 again.Maybe The bad setup at frist time had not release the setup program of OS,which is the reason.
