J2SE 1.4.2_04 disappeared?

I've found that J2SE 1.4.2_04 was rolled back to 1.4.2_03 in java.sun.com's download page. But why?

I have noticed this too - some pages have a mix of references to versions, eg. http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/ReleaseNotes.html#142_04Some form of explanation would be nice - can I trust my installed 1.4.2_04 JDK?

Ah! So I am not alone in the lonely search for the missing J2SE 1.4.2_04.I am with a product development team and we were doing compatibility tests vs 1.4.2_04 when I notice that IT DISAPPEARED!

I noticed that it installed a few files with dates of 2/22/68 - see rt.jar. Maybe that's the problem.

The date of that file is fine on my Linux system.

I am now worried that there was a bug in _04 that has caused Sun to pull it, hoping no-one would notice...

I guess I'll be able to tell if all my deployed servers start falling over :-(

I'm crossing my fingers that this is an HTML regression though...

You can find J2SE 1.4.2_04 here: http://javashoplm.sun.com/ECom/docs/Welcome.jsp?StoreId=22&PartDetailId=j2sdk-1.4.2_04-oth-JPR&SiteId=JSC&TransactionId=noregNot sure if Sun meant to pull this release.

I believe their web team probably made a mistake when updating their web pages.. since you can still download the _04 packages. If they really wanted to pull back, they should have remove those binaries files as well. The bug fixes pages still have _04 references in it..Oh well.. i sent them an email already on this issue, let's hope we get a response back.

OK, It's back, but I don't know if it is same with the previously provided 1.4.2_04 pakcage.I think Sun should clarify it.

The current downloadable version is 03? Is there a recall of the 04

version? Should we revert back to 03 version instead?
