Java error utilizing Sun Solaris 9 CBT

Howdy all!

This is likely a very basic question but since I am just starting my studies for Solaris 9 Certs, I figured this was the place to go. ;0)

I am atttempting to run Sun Solaris 9 CBT courses on my Win98SE machine but am running into a problem.

When the 'console' opens up where the training material should show up I am getting the following error:

Error Reading CSF:

java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission C:\Program Files\Sun\Sun Learning CD-ROM\cds-119\Courses\CSF_ws-1190_unit_en.xml read)

I also installed the same software on an XP machine with no problem - it works fine. However, my training PC is the older W98SE machine. ANY help would be heartily welcome.

Thanks!

They screw up using their own java technology to train solaris 9. I have the same problem and can't figure out how to resolve it! Any luck on your part?

Allright..sorry for the rush to blame sun. They have a support forum for CBTs, and this solution works to resolve the problem:

Thank you for your message. However we do not support Windows XP for any Sun product at the current time.

With that said, If you can access the course menu, this is an indication that the certificate has been granted. If not, please try the following steps in Internet Explorer (version 5.0-6.0).

Under: TOOLS >> Internet Options... >> Advanced >> Scroll through the selections until you see: Jave (Sun) Use Java xxxxx for applet (requires restart)

This box should NOT be checked. After you have made this change, please try again.

Thank you, Sun Web Learning Center Technical Support Team.
