Don't knock mobile gaming!
When I was a youngster, I got into programming because I wanted to write games. By the time I gained enough knowledge to write some better stuff, the gaming market had moved beyond my reach. Right now, it is extremely rare that one or two people could make a game that achieves critical acclaim. The consumers' expectation has been raised so high that it takes many dozens of people with budgets in the millions to have a real chance to make that blockbuster game.
This was a *major* bummer to me and I pretty much gave up on my dream. But now, the mobile gaming market makes my dream possible again. There are some major names to be made in mobile gaming, and it's quite possible for a couple of guys working on the side to achieve a major success in game development. The technology keeps improving to the point where eventually this possibility will again fade from the radar. But for right now, I'm excited about this stuff !
By the way, in case you still don't think that the technology will advance to the point where better games can be played, check out this information about ATI's new 3D chip for cell phones!
