recreation of Excite Bike, check it out

This was the final project for one of my CS classes, we had one month and four people to remake (with enhancements) the NES game Excite Bike. This is not the final turn in version, but pretty close so hopefully its in a relatively working state =p. Its unfortunately probably a resource hog so ensure to try to run it in full screen. If it still has low FPS, I apologize =/. Anyways, if you find any issues, let us know with the contact info in the README, or just post here. After the project is completely turn in, I will consider posting the source code pending any serious issues.

Thanks and hopefully enjoy...

LadyFoxy, any more info possibly on what happened when you tried to run it?windowed mode? fullscreen? If you tried fullscreen, try a couple times, its a bit shaky =/ Yeah for amateur programming!

It's very nice!

You should get a fine grade.

Although it didn't act sluggish at all, it would occasionally "freeze" for a second or two when I ran it in windowed mode. The full screen mode worked quite well with no pauses at all.

[P4 2.53GHz, 1GB RAM, Windows 2000 SP3, JRE 1.4.2]

Thanks for the fun!

Any idea why the performance drops in normal mode, versus full-screen mode? Other than that, its a very good software.

my best guess is, full screen doesn't have to worry about all the background applications being drawn, and I believe there is more hardware acceleration full screen than windowed

I like it...**** good. What api did you use for your sound and graphics? JavaSound or Applet sound loading? Fullscreen Graphics API? Is your source available?

for those still interested, while I wish I could fix most of the serious bugs, more than likely this will be the last release and was the version that was turned in. The game download as well as the source code is available at the bottom of this webpage

You'll have to excuse our not so awesome html =p

Enjoy!
