Music in Java

Hello there,

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for my question, but i couldn't find a dedicated forum for music in Java.

Im interested in writing a small applicaton that will create a guitar distortion effect. The aim is to be able to plug my guitar into my pc, press a button turning on a distortion effect and then be able to play the guitar through the PC speakers.

Is this possible ? Is there any example code about ? If anyone could point me in the right direction or perhaps share some code with me i'd be most greatful.
