Besides the fact that they are all different companies, "shared source" could be one of two things: 1) Microsoft's lame attempt at a catchy new name for "open source", or 2) Microsoft's way of saying "well... we'll let you see all of our source... except for the good stuff" without getting bitched at for claiming that it was "open source".

For the record, I do not have a problem with Microsoft. The use of 'lame' up above wasn't Microsoft-specific (har har har), it was just meant to show my general distaste for companies that think up "catchy new names" for doing the same old thing in the same old way.
