SDK uninstall problem

Hello,

I recently installed Java 2 SDK 2 v1.4_01 for Windows XP. I decided to change directories and uninstalled it using the Add or Remove Programs Control Panel. When I now try to reinstall, the extraction process goes fine but then a message appears saying that Java 2 SDK is already installed.

I think that the uninstall was successful because some web pages give warnings that the Java VM needs to be installed.

It seems that something is left in the System Registry (or somewhere else) showing that the Java is still installed. I need to reinstall Java but the process seems blocked. Any ideas or advice would be most appreciated.

Thank you,

Jeff Ratliff

Remove all the old directories that were added by the original install, open the Control Panel - Add/Delete Programs and check that "Java2 Runtime Environment" and "Java Webstart" are also gone- if not, remove them.

If you did any of the above, do an install.

If it fails again, search thru the Registry and clean it of "Sun" and "Javasoft" keys.
