Hello please help me!

Hello everyone,

I just bought a laptop and it comes with Windows XP.Then i loaded Java(Jdk1.2.1) and tried to run the compiler javac, and an dialog box appears stating as follows.

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library.

Runtime error!

Program :c:\JDK12~1.1\BIN\Javac.exe

abnormal Program termination

OK

please note that i have already set the path in the control panel,advanced tab,environment ,user variables.

I really do not know what to do.any help from anywhere is very much appreciated.
