I'm in the same boat, seems a java enabled phone embargo is in operation atm. (probably the operators tryin 2 flog all the current carppy phones)
Even official developer sources here in the uk seem 2 be unable 2 supply phones.
we (our company) is contemplating buying import.
If any1 can point me to a supplier int he uk i'd be much obliged.
I tried to buy an sl45i from amazon.de but they wouldn't ship overseas. I guess I could wait until it comes out over here or until I next cross the channel.
I think you may be able to buy one through the Siemens developer program.
Another option is the fact that the sl45i is just a software upgraded sl45, and so if you can find someone who knows how to flash upgrade the phones you could get them to do so.
I was hoping the colourful new Trium and Ericsson phones, or the oddly shaped Nokia phone may have been Java enabled, but it seems not.
had a look at siemens developer site.
650euros for dev kit is their quoted price, but all their links and downloads refuse 2 let me procede.
(is it cos I only just registered, or is their site fked, or is our firewall messing up the cookies)
that microjava link was useful - even if it did only confirm that there are only 3 java enabled devices available in europe - 2 bricks and 1 unavailable phone ;-(
ta very much
rob,
Nokia have lined up some fairly sweet looking Java enabled phones for next year, including colour ones and one with a built in camera.
I still like the look of the sl45i though, just because the sl45 is a **** fine phone as it is, and MMC/SD support is a definate plus.
Oh well, I guess well just have to keep using emulators for a while and wait on the arrival of the phones. Though I may have another stab at bablefishing myself around German sites trying to buy one.
