i want to develop an application which can keep track a mail.for example a candidate x sends a mail to y,now y forward it to z.now x want to know the status of his mail.how i can keep track the status of this mail.

What you want is typical workflow apps. There are two way in common.
(1)Groupware
like domino or exchage
(2)DB-driven workflow
Your can store the status and other properties in database and you must develop a event engine.
There are many products in commerce.

our organisation has a mail service using java Api.but people frequently use the Netscape configured mail system.i am not getting how to make the system alert while some one forwarding a message in Netsacpe mail system.is there any java mail api to handle this event?
