JMS Exception

People, please help:I am getting the following message:"javax.jms.JMSException: java.io.IOException: Bad portmapper version number: 101". Can anyone tell me what's a portmapper, and how it is possible to change it?
Need some info about the environment and the Messaging Service provider you are using.

Yeah, sorry. I am using Windows NT, and the iPlanet Messaging service. I have resolved the problem, one of the Jar files with JMS classes was somewhat outdated, however still think I wanna know what's that portmapper is about?I figured it has to do with RPC (Remote Method Call) but that's about it.
