Java 1.4 small footprint memory ? faster startup time ?

According to the Java Live for Java 1.4

http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/community/chat/JavaLive/2001/jl0717.html

They did mantion about small footprint memory usage, faster starup time and

faster rendering but all this features will only available on next beta which will release

at Sept.

my question is~ Any Sun's people can confirm about all this features ?

thanks guy~

I like Java very much but my customers they don;t care about the features of Java

what they want is a fast program. I hope Java will be there.

and further more I seen a lots about CLR are faster then JVM about 50% with fast

startup time, small footprint memory and faster execution.

I hope HotSpot can store any compiled code on Hard Drive, I hope JVM will

small in form of modular base and download when required so~ something like Java Web Start

not all programs required JDBC, Swing, Client EJB, JNDI, CORBA, JNI and .... and I think

rt.jar r too big~! should download when required~ of'cos not whole rt.jar but part by part.

Thanks guys and I hope to see Java developers and Java engineer to repply my topic.

thanks again

That's a good idea.

Concerning the download time, see the following RFE. http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/bugParade/bugs/4267080.html
