No JVM Shipped with Windows XP

Windows minus Java

http://www.iwks.com/news/180701.asp

This is good, in my view. Now we can be less concerned about only partially compliant VMs running on windows.

Hopefully Sun will come to a license agreement with

a party such as IBM to produce the "standard" JVM for windows (even though SUN makes one, as well).

Someone like IBM has the muscle to convince distributors of windows based systems to install their "standard" windows based VM on Microsoft Windows XP distributions. (Sun could do this, itself

but it might seem a little self-serving) (Plus, given the fact that all Intel/Windows based machines are still often referred to as "IBM compatibles", it'd be a natural fit.)

We'll see if Microsoft uses its strong arm to prevent

such a move..... IN any event At least IBM, themselves,

could see to it that it's on all of their Windows based systems.

Hooray!
