Anyone want to help me (Learn JAVA)

Hey everyone... I am new to JAVA (obvouisly), and though I beilive I know the basics, I coul really use someone to help me along. Is anyone with AIM, AOL, or ICQ, willing to help me with answering questions I get as I learn? I have found a few parts of the language hard to grasp. Well if anyone is interested in helping me please email me "prodigy3k@aol.com"... I would appreciate it greatly! Thank you.

No offense, but do you actually think someone will do your work for you? What I mean is if you have trouble understanding something, you can ask your questions here, but I doubt there are many (non-newbie) programmers here that have the time to teach you java actively.

Yeah, I usually charge about $25/hour for the kind of help you're describing.

Hi Devin,

Don't let these other party poopers get you down. There are plenty of people willing to give a hand to newbies, cause at some point we were all newbies. I am willing to help you out as long as you are willing to do most of the work. I will send you an email.

Robert

Well... I suppose maybe I didnt make myself clear enough... I am not asking for you to "do all my work"... What I meant by that was perhaps occasional questions. I dont expect any "training". "do you actually think someone will do your work for you?", no, I don't.

This is the forum for newbies. If you are working on some code and have a problem, post away. You can tell by the number of messages posted each day that many people are willing to help.

ok... first off, calm down a bit. this forum is for folks who are trying to learn the language; they're all in the same boat you are.

If you're not ready to sit down and write code, then think about a more directed question than "does anyone want to help me?".

Do you want to know where you can find tutorials on the net (btw, browse java.sun.com!)?

Do you want to know what good books are out there that can help you learn java? (imho, "Thinking in Java", available on-line at www.bruceeckels.com, is a good one).

Do you have any programming experience that you'd like to leverage in learning Java?

Ask a more specific question, and I'm sure you'll find folks here quite responsive and helpful...
