Java certification?

Hi all,

I'm interested in becoming a certified java web developer. I have experience with server side Java programming, JSP's, servlets, HTML and have done a lot of work in the web sphere development environment. Is there a certification available that talks speciifcally to this type of development and can anyone point in a direction that would help me collect some more info. BTW is it worth my wjile to become certified?

Regards,

Mat

Sun, of course, will tell you it's definitely worth your while to become certified.

There's a poster over in the "New to. . ." forum who's done some interviewing and found that most of the people who were certified were simply using certification to cover up the fact that they didn't really know how to program.

Personally, I take a middle-of-the-road approach. I don't think it's worth what Sun will tell you it's worth. But I also think that there are enough places out there where it might get your foot in the door to make it worth the expense. Your mileage may vary.
