Problem with sdk1.3.1 for Linux...

Hi

I tried to download sdk 1.3.1 for linux using both Netscape and IE..they downloaded onto my win 2000 machine allright but when I copied it onto a cd and tried to load it on my linux m/c at home it wouldn't load. It reads the file and at exactly 27% it stops and gives an error message. I am not even able to copy the .rpm file from my cd to the hard drive..and this has happened 5 times..so its definitely not a problem with the cd/cd drive as my other installations worked perfectly.

Any solutions?

Thanks

What is the error message, and what distribution of Linux?

I recommend you to use the current distribution of linux such as Red Hat 7.1, or Mandrake 7.1 or higher.

When you install or upgrade your linux, please do install 'Dos Tools' so that you are able to access Windows Directories.

For exmaple, you are able to access a RPM version of JDK 1.3.1 (j2sdk-1_3_1-linux-i386-rpm.bin) using a 'konqueror' from KDE X Windows of your linux to your Windows /temp directory. I assumped that you downloaded it on /temp directory on Windows machine.

Now, you just need to follow installation document provided by Sun Microsystems....

Here is Web address...
